Junior Carnival Parade, Junior King & Queen Competition and Family Day

TORONTO, May 15 – There’s plenty of family fun and events for young people planned as part of the 2019 Toronto Caribbean Carnival. This year, the festival celebrates 52 years of Carnival in Toronto.

Media and the public are invited to attend the official media launch of the 2019 Junior Carnival on July 3 at the Malvern Town Centre, 31 Tapscott Rd from 11:00 am – 1 pm. Enjoy a colourful lunchtime preview of this year’s costumes and talented young Junior Carnival participants. The event will feature over 100 junior masqueraders, live entertainment and more. This is a free event.

Then on July 14th the Junior King and Queen Showcase will be held at Malvern Town Centre outside in the parking lot outside of FreshLand Supermarket from 10 am – 6 pm. Watch children ages 16 and under (even toddlers!) compete to be Junior Carnival King or Queen. Almost 100 participants will showcase spectacular costumes to win the title. This is a free event.

Then on July 20th more than 2000 young participants will take part in the annual Junior Carnival & Family Day. The Junior Carnival Parade starts at 10:30 am with an official opening ceremony at the McLevin Road Entry to the Malvern Community Centre. The parade will then travel west on McLevin Road, north on Neilson Road to Neilson Park where families are welcome to enjoy a carnival showcase, kids crafts and games, food, live entertainment and the always popular Junior Chef competition. The event is free and all are welcome to join at the parade starting point, along the parade route or at Neilson Park, 1555 Neilson Road, Scarborough.

Finally, on August 5, all are welcome to watch the Grand Parade from the Exhibition Grounds. $20 admission provides great viewing, security, and plenty of food and entertainment.
