Parade Operations Manager for the Peeks Toronto Caribbean Carnival
The Festival Management Committee has appointed Gerard Weekes as the Parade Operations Manager for the 2017 Peeks Toronto Caribbean Carnival.
Weekes will be responsible for the efficient presentation of both the Grand Parade and Junior Parade events, which include all aspects of the planning and production–design and construction, creative direction, logistics, operations, and agency liaisons.
Weekes has a wealth of industry-related experience. As a proponent of the Carnival Arts, Weekes’ deep understanding of Carnival culture and the origins of the Emancipation celebration will serve as an invaluable resource to all stakeholders involved.
His experience as a designer, choreographer, and event manager with specific knowledge of parade management offers the Festival Management Committee the leadership that is required for an event of this nature scope and calibre. He has received accolades for both Band of the Year and King of Carnival titles in Trinidad and Tobago.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to contribute my knowledge and skills to this year’s events and to making the 50th anniversary of the Grand Parade a major success”, he said.
