Beyond The Mas – A Celebration of Freedom

Description: Beyond the Mas, a Celebration of Freedom is a fabulous new affair that lets you experience the magic and thrill of masquerade. We invite you to design or purchase your own costume and come celebrate “freedom” with us. Featuring Caribbean tassa drumming, Cajuca Mas Arts, a fine dining experience prepared by a celebrity Caribbean chef and the sounds of Ossie Gurley and the Truth and DJ Vince. Door prizes will be given to guests with the best costumes. Come experience the Toronto Carnival’s newest and hottest all inclusive event.
King & Queen Showcase
When:August 1, 2019
Location:Lamport Stadium – 1155 King St W
Time: 6:00 pm – Midnight
The grandest and most spectacular show of the Toronto Caribbean Carnival. The Kings, the Queens, and individuals of the Carnival bands will unveil their elaborately themed costumes highlighting the creative minds and imagination of the designers. Male and female performers embody and showcase the creative work of the talented artists, designers, and costume builders. The Ontario Science Center will present the Innovation in Mas award for the engineering, construction, design, and best environmental use of material in a costume.
General Admission guests have access to a fully licensed bar and a food marketplace offering the best in Caribbean cuisine.
The VIP Experience includes a four course dining experience under the stars, a licensed bar with premium beverages and allocated seating to enjoy the most spectacular show of the Carnival.

Location:Exhibition Place and Lakeshore

The Grand Parade is the largest event of the Toronto Caribbean Carnival. It is the highlight of the annual Festival. After months of preparation, masqueraders in colourful and striking costumes and steel pan bands wind their way from Exhibition Place moving east along Lakeshore Boulevard and returning to Exhibition Place. The road becomes the stage for the masqueraders and steelpan performers. It truly is something you can’t miss.
Select from a range of different experiences from our VIP Tent, to General Admission to the Main Stage or one of the three spectator zones along the Lakeshore with food vendors and licensed beer tents.
VIP Tent: The ultimate Grand Parade VIP experience. Raised VIP pavilion with unobstructed views of the Main Stage. Fully licensed with premium beverages and access to VIP amenities. Includes fully catered lunch with limited drink tickets.
Grand Parade General Admission: Access to view the Opening Ceremony and to see the competition on the Main Stage. Get up front and close to the action with bleacher style seating with unobstructed views of the Masquerader Competition. Access to the Main Beer Tent, premium Caribbean food vendors and amenities.
Jr. Carnival Media Launch

Location: Malvern Town Center Scarborough
Time: 11:30am – 1:00 pm
The media and the public are invited to attend the official media launch of the 2019 Junior Carnival on July 3 at the Malvern Town Centre, 31 Tapscott Rd from 11:30 am – 1:00 pm. Enjoy a colourful lunchtime preview of this year’s costumes and talented young Junior Carnival participants. The event will feature over 100 junior masqueraders, live entertainment and more. This is a free event.

The 2019 Toronto Caribbean Carnival season begins with the Official Launch ceremony at City Hall. This kickoff event gives the city of Toronto a taste of what’s to come for this year’s Carnival season. There is a showcase of this year’s Masquerade costumes presented by the different participating Mas Bands. Come taste some of the Caribbean’s traditional and favourite foods that will be available at the event. This is a free event.
Jr Carnival King & Queen Showcase
When: July 14, 2019
Location: Malvern Town Centre Car Park
Time: 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm
The Junior Carnival King and Queen Showcase is a competition of spectacular Carnival costumes with over 100 participants. The event will be held at Malvern Town Centre outside in the parking lot outside of FreshLand Supermarket. Watch children ages 16 and under (even toddlers!) compete to be Junior Carnival King or Queen. This is a free event.
Jr Carnival Parade & Family Day
When: July 20, 2019
Location: Malvern and Neilson Parks, Scarborough
Time: 10:30 am – 8:00 pm
More than 2,000 young participants will take part in the annual Junior Carnival & Family Day. The Junior Carnival Parade starts at 10:30 am with an official opening ceremony at the McLevin Road Entry to the Malvern Community Centre. The parade will then travel west on McLevin Road, north on Neilson Road to Neilson Park where families are welcome to enjoy a carnival showcase, kids crafts and games, food, live entertainment and the always popular Junior Chef competition. The event is free and all are welcome to join at the parade starting point, along the parade route or at Neilson Park, 1555 Neilson Road, Scarborough.
Calypso Extravaganza Show

Location: St Peters and Paul Banquet Hall, Scarborough

An unmissable event for calypso fans. An evening of classic and contemporary calypso music featuring performers from Canada, the United States and the Caribbean.
Emancipation Day Lighting of the CN Tower
When: Aug 1, 2019
Location: CN Tower, Roundhouse Park, 255 Bremner Rd
Time: 7:00 pm – 9:30 pm
This event is to recognize the Emancipation of Slavery and will commemorate this event with the lighting up of the CN tower along with the annual Underground Railroad event organized by A Different Booklist. This Lighting will ignite The City Of Toronto.
Ontario Pan Alive Show Competition
When: Aug 2, 2019
Location: Allan Lamport Stadium
Time: 5:30 pm – Midnight
The Toronto Caribbean Carnival Festival and The Ontario Steel Band association present Pan Alive, Canada’s premiere Steel Pan competition happening during Carnival weekend. On August 2nd, some of North America’s best Steel Pan orchestras will compete for the title of Best Steel Band.
Throughout the night the audience will be treated to some of the best live Caribbean flavoured percussion and steel drumming. The panel of judges will judge performance on arrangement, group performance, the tone and general application of rhythm. Of course, the audience will base our favourites on how hard we are pushed to dance.
